Tire out the Grandkids this summmer

Everyone looks forward to the summer months when we don't have to leave work in the dark. But it's easy to forget that children, who have their own routines, can be unsettled after the clocks have gone forward and are recovering from an hour's less sleep. Having longer to spend with your kids and grandchildren is one of the bonuses of summer, but if you're worried about how to make sure their bedtimes and routines are not affected log on to see family expert Claire Halsey and toy buyer Wendy Munt for some top advice.

According to new research by Argos it seems a staggering number of parents could do with Claire's tips, as half of those in the UK feel that their children's routines are affected by longer days in the summer. Unsurprisingly, the majority of us want kids outside enjoying the light evenings. More than half of us say shopping gets in the way of their free time with the kids, but most would rather spend time with their children by playing in the garden or taking them to the park.

Not only is all of the family getting a taste of the great outdoors but all these activities mean that the grandkids are tired when it comes to bedtime - great news when light days can confuse a child's body clock. What works for you? A good old bedtime story, cuddly toys or even blackout blinds to ensure the kids get a decent night's sleep? .

Family expert and clinical psychologist Claire Halsey offers exclusive tips on coping with the longer, lighter evenings. To see the webchat again click here:
